These products will address multiple skin concerns, deliver results and perform progressively over time.

What to expect from a peel

An Alumier MD skin peel will provide your dull, tired or breakout prone skin a fresh start by lifting away the top layers to reveal the healthy skin cells beneath. The peels are a medium depth and they can be repeated for progressive and gradual results with minimal downtime. A gentle acid is applied to your skin to lower the pH, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. Peels can also thicken the epidermis, increase dermal volume and stimulate collagen production. This also enables them to effectively treat acne/congestion and sun damage amongst other indications too.

FAQ's

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Chemical peels are able to help treat concerns such as pigmentation, acne, and aging skin, by increasing cell turnover and bringing newer skin cells to the surface. Applying chemical peels to your face allows professionals to provide your skin with the necessary actives that your skin requires to leave it feeling and looking youthful and smooth.

HOW DO SUPERFICIAL CHEMICAL PEELS WORK?

Superficial chemical peels decrease the pH, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells, encouraging exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. This process causes the surface layers of dead skin cells to peel off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion. Chemical peels can also thicken the epidermis, increase dermal volume and stimulate collagen.

DO I NEED TO PREP MY SKIN BEFORE A CHEMICAL PEEL?

At AlumierMD, we believe in repeated treatments for progressive and gradual results, to avoid the side effects and downtime associated with deeper peels. In certain skin conditions, for example, hyperpigmentation or acne, it is highly recommended to pre-treat the skin. Pre-treatment products will pre-condition the skin, accelerate results and minimise complications. Post-treatment products will be provided after each peel to minimise complications, soothe the skin and then maintain the results.

EXPECTATIONS vs. REALITY

Beautiful skin doesn't happen overnight. A single chemical peel can provide the immediate effect of bright and radiant skin. However, more significant results in treating textural issues, fine lines and inflamed acne can take time. In most cases, it is highly recommended to purchase a course of peels or combine the peels with other modalities such as microneedling or LED Light Therapy.

WHERE CAN I HAVE A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Chemical peels are usually performed on the face, but may also be used on the back, neck, décolleté and hands.

HOW WILL I BENEFIT FROM A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Peel treatments improve skin texture and firmness, decreasing fine lines and wrinkles. Peels also even out skin tone, improve acne-prone skin and reduce pore size appearance. Not all peels are created equal, and one peel type doesn't suit all. Certain ingredients may be more effective for treating acne, while others may be more successful in treating hyperpigmentation or the signs of ageing. Prior to your skin treatment, together we will complete a thorough skin analysis. I will recommend an individualised treatment programme to address your skin concerns. I will create a personalised programme that combines professional treatments with home care products as they work synergistically to improve the health and beauty of your skin.

WILL THE PEELS CAUSE UNSIGHTLY REDNESS & PEELING?

Post-treatment peeling is often similar to peeling after a tan. In some cases, exfoliation occurs on a cellular level and is not apparent to the naked eye. The exfoliation you will experience varies depending on your skin profile. If you experience any skin shedding, it is important to not pick the skin as this can lead to further pigment damage. AlumierMD chemical peels are light to medium depth, and they are formulated to reduce irritation and redness.

OUR PEEL PHILOSOPHY

At  AlumierMD, we offer a selection of superficial to medium depth peels that are known for their excellent results and safety profile. We believe in repeated treatments for progressive and gradual results, to avoid the side effects and downtime associated with deeper peels. Chemical peels should always be performed by a trained skin care professional in a clinical setting so that they are delivered safely and effectively.
